Safety First!

First thing is first, safety!

Everyone is concerned with how safe something new is and they have good reason! Safety is our first priority at Eagles Wings.

Our equipment is all certified and clear for take off to ensure your personal safety. As our guest, we equip you with a sturdy harness that fits snug for a comfortable zipping experience.

A pair of lobster claw tethers and a short tether accompanies each harness.

Three carabiners hook to the end of each tether; one of the carabiners hold your trolley, the other attaches to your handlebars and then to your trolley as well. The third carabiner ensures your safety while you’re in the trees.

Each tether is attached to a single rapid link that is then screwed onto your harness and tightened with a wrench.

Now that you have your harness and all its glory, don’t forget your helmet when you head out for your tour!

Most importantly, trust your equipment! All of your tethers, rapid links and carabiners are certified to withstand up to 5,000 lbs!

After getting to know your own equipment you might begin to wonder about the safety of the lines you are zipping on. Our lines are made up of 1/2" Steel IWR Cable. Each line is reinforced by multiple backups. 

Along with passing their site-specific technical training, all of the guides have all taken courses in CPR and First Aid. Each guide knows about the importance of routine when hooking anyone up and will triple check before sending you on your way.

For your safety, at each station we have a rescue bag, which includes; belay device, daisy chain, rescue figure-8, 150 ft rope, 3 steel carabiners and two aluminum carabiners. There is a rescue bag located at each platform on the canopy tour.

This bag of equipment is used for rescues on the line if someone comes up short on their way over. In case of surprise weather, the rescue bags also supplies us with what we need to get everyone to safety on the ground.

The guides have all familiarized themselves with the equipment and know exactly what to do in any scenario while out on the lines. They are also able to ensure you of any information you want to know before and during your tour.

Our system of checking to make sure that everything is ready and secure to be zipped over to the next platform is to check our 3 C’s which include: Connection, Carabiner, and Client. Once everything and everyone is secure, grab onto your handlebars, sit back and enjoy the ride!
